    Market Replay with historical data

    Hi!

I would like to perform a marker replay with daily tradings (swing trade only, no intraday is needed). Is it possible to do it only with historical data? I´m having some trouble doing that.

    Thanks in advance.

    Felipe.

    Hello Felipe,

Yes, it is possible to use the playback connection with historical tick data (minute and daily data cannot be used)

Ensure you have historical tick data for the instrument in question.

On the Playback controller, select Historical.

Below is a link to the help guide on using historical data for playback.

Step by step guide for historical data replay please.

"Ensure you have historical tick data for the instrument in question."

      How do I do that?
No links please! Just a simple step by step guide on how to play back historical data.
I've looked at all your links.
Why would I want to export historical data?
Is it part of getting tick only historical data? Maybe? It doesn't say why I might want to do this.
I use Kinetech. Isn't the tick data already there?
I've been everywhere and I can't find EXACTLY how to replay historical data in one handy link. They all refer to other links, that may or may not be relevant, I can't tell.
      ----
I thought it was as simple as connecting NT8 to Kinetech, loading 30 days of IBM in a chart, disconnecting from Kintech, connecting to Playback Connection, clicking on the Historical button, set my dates to that 30 day period and clicking on the play button.
      Am I mistaken?
You can probably tell I'm very frustrated.

        Hello Andor1999,

At the first link Chelsea provided, under How to work with replay data, under “Right Click Menu”, you’ll see “Show available data”. Right click in the playback box>show available data. You’ll see two types, Historical and Market Replay. This is where you would check if you have the historical data.

If you’d like to download either historical or replay data, from the previous window you click the load tab on the bottom, then select either download or get market replay data.

          Hello,

I also like to ask one question regarding the market replay function in NT8: I am able to run the (intraday) replay with historical tick data (L1) and to place trades during the replay. I also see the trade performance report but when I close and reopen NT8 all replay trades are deleted. If I choose the respective time period in the performance report window the Playback101 account is not available anymore as long as I place new trades in the Playback101 account.

Is this behaviour intended and is there any way to conserve / store the Playback trades in NT8 in a way that they survive a restart of NT8?

          Many thanks,
          Joerg

            Hello Joerg,

Unfortunately this is as expected. You could export the trade performance data to Excel. Please right click in the Trade Performance window and select Export.
