    NT8 Crashes More than it Executes Trades

    Hello,

    While trading the futures markets this morning, once again, NT8 crashed so often, that, even though I did not count, I'm pretty sure it ended up crashing more times than the number of trades that I was able to enter today.

    Really ridiculous, hazardous for live trading, and obviously this is a very unstable version of NT8.

    My question is, would there be any problems created if I uninstall NT8 version 8.0.9.0 and then installed the previous version 8.0.8.0?

    Sometimes crashing can occur when using custom or 3rd party scripts.

    Are you able to reproduce the crashing when using a new blank workspace with a new blank chart with no indicators applied?

    As a test, please take the following steps to force NinjaTrader to start without your saved workspaces. You will have the option to reopen these after our tests.

    First, I suggest making a backup of your workspace so we can restore a backup if any changes need to be undone.

    Below I have provided a link to the Backup and Restore section of our help guide.


    Then to start without a saved workspace:
    • Shut down NinjaTrader
    • Navigate to (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 8\workspaces
    • Select all files in this folder -> right-click one of those selected files -> select Cut
    • Navigate to the Desktop -> right-click the Desktop -> select New -> Folder
    • Open this folder -> right-click in the folder -> select Paste
    • After moving these files, restart NinjaTrader which should startup without any workspaces
    • Once NinjaTrader has started on just the control center, please open a new chart and test for the issue. Do not load a template on this new chart or any indicators.
    • *Please note this will not delete your workspace however the new blank workspace will be named Untitled1. If you have a workspace already named Untitled1 however you will not want to save the workspace when exiting NinjaTrader, otherwise it will overwrite it


    If you are able to reproduce in a blank workspace on a new blank chart I will schedule a call with you so that I may investigate on your local machine and if necessary report the behavior to our development.

      Hi Chelsea,

      Thanks for your reply.

      I did what you suggested and was not able to reproduce the freezing of NT8 with a blank chart (the freezing which would require me to crash the program).

      In either case, the previous version of NT8 did not cause problems with the indicators that I use, as far as I can remember.

      So would there be any problems likely to be created for me if I uninstall NT8 version 8.0.9.0 and then install the previous version 8.0.8.0?

        Hello i2w8am9ii2,

        I would discourage going back to previous versions.

        As new bug fixes and security updates are released, these could leave your system vulnerable if you are not updating to the latest version.

        Instead, I would encourage identifying the script that is causing the crashing and either correcting the script if this is one you have written, or contacting the vendor that has supplied the script and reporting the behavior.

        That said, you can download the previous version of NinjaTrader from the downloads page.
