    Memory Leak in SuperDOM (NT8)

If you open the Super DOM window, add the VOLUME column that comes with NT8, the memory usage for the NinjaTrader process starts to go up. It's not uncommon for Private Working Set to go up to 4 or 5 GB after about 6 Hours. NT8 (8.0.9.0 64-bit (Multi-Broker).

If you open multiple instances of SuperDOM the memory goes up even faster,

Is there any configuration/way to avoid this?

    Hello jmneto,
Can you please clarify if the process is increasing and then decreasing in memory or constantly rising?

It's constantly increasing, it should be easy to reproduce, just open 4 or 5 SuperDom with some indicators (Volume for example) and it will go up steadily.

I actually found the issue with a proprietary indicator I created which I have reviewed and checked for issues multiple times. it follows the same programming guidelines shown in all your SupecDOM column indicators that comes with NT8. There is no "bad design" or miscodes in my indicator I can guarantee yo (code structure and classes used are the same of the NT8 Volume indicator for example).

        Hello jmneto,

I have attempted to reproduce the behavior using the steps you have provided but I was not able to reproduce.

Below is a link to a video of the test.

May I confirm I have taken the correct steps to reproduce?

Using the exact steps in the video are you getting different behavior?

Are you able to reproduce the behavior using the Volume column as you have mentioned without any custom or 3rd party indicators or columns added?

Are you only able to reproduce using your custom script?

        May we test your script?

Your repro is correct, make sure all DOM is visible in the screen so they all update, and the memory will start to crawl up. Just monitor the process memory over time.

            Hello jmneto,

I've left all 4 SuperDOMs up for an hour and the memory has dropped from 190 MBs to about 180 MBs.

To confirm, using the exact steps in the video using only the Volume column that is supplied with NinjaTrader and no other columns or indicators you are getting different behavior than what is shown in the video, is this correct?

If so, I would like to schedule a call with you so that I may observe the behavior (in a clean environment). Please send an email to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com. In the email please include a link to this forum thread.

Apparently the issue went away. I've taken two actions:

              1) Reinstalled Ninja
              2) Modified my code reducing the number of times TextFormat and FormattedText are executed.

Was not able to reproduce overnight. Will contact here again if issue reoccurs.
