Screening for stocks using Market Analyser

Hi team,

I would like to use Ninja Trader 8 Market Analyser for very basic screening of trends in stock eg uptrend , price > 20 SMA, 20SMA > 50 SMA and vice versa for downtrends. Unfortunately, the analyser seems incapable of actually including overlays like moving averages , keltner channel , Bollinger bands or ma envelopes into the market analyser. Whilst I think NJT8 has improved via the new ability to add alerts to indicators and overlays- the Market Analyser is still non-competitive with other platforms.

Unless I'm missing something.........

Can anyone out there suggest how what is the most basic screening function of all that is available for free on the internet, can be accomplished without having to learn C# to do it?

Hello RyuTrader,

The Market Analyzer filter and cell conditions are limited to being compared with a set number.

However, it is possible to create an indicator that does the comparison and sets a value and use this for the filter or cell condition.

Attached is an example with a Market Analyzer template, that demonstrates detecting when the SMA(7) is greater than, equal to, or less than the SMA(14).

Thank you for your reply.

You can change the period used to calculate the SMAs in the example by right clicking on the Market Analyzer > Columns > Select the MarketAnalyzerIndicatorComparisonExample > change bar type and value.

Other indicator columns you set up can also have their primary input series adjusted in this way.
