drawing Line or Ray with NT8 isn't working as it was in NT7

this is how I draw a horizontal ray with NT7
start out with snap mode "bar and price"
anchor the ray to the H/L/O/C of a bar with a click of my mouse
then I hit Ctrl+D (a shortcut I setup to disable snap mode)
then draw the ray almost horizontal and click again with my mouse somewhere on the chart
and voila you have a horizontal ray

alternatively to disable snap mode you can go beyond the most recent bar and click there
and voila you have a horizontal ray

BOTH techniques aren't working anymore with NT8, that is very disappointing

snap mode seems to be not switchable anymore while drawing a ray

going beyond the most recent bar snaps to H/L/C/O of the most recent bar

the same goes for drawing a line

    time consuming and ridiculous

        Hello Thomas,

        Thank you for your post.

You may enable or disable snap mode by following the instructions below.

        From your Chart
        Right-click > Drawing Tools > Snap mode
Select which snap mode you desire.
You may also set up hotkeys for your snap mode from Tools > Hot Keys
Select Chart from the Categories tab.

Let me know if I may be of any further assistance.

this is what I did, I setup hotkeys for enable and disable snap
but please read my 1st post, the hotkeys do not work anymore, while in the process of drawing a line or ray, like they did in NT7
and drawing a line and ray also works different than in NT7, it automatically snaps to the last bar on the chart

            Hello Thomas,

            Thank you for your reply.

Could you please send me a screenshot of the chart you are using?

To send a screenshot with Windows 7 or newer I would recommend using Window's Snipping Tool.

Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

I look forward to helping you resolve this item.

I made two short video clips on drawing a horizontal ray
              NT7 https://www.screencast.com/t/kwWfkAuWT
              NT8 https://www.screencast.com/t/uv3YGGXb47

I hope you see now what I mean

I see you're trying to adjust the snap mode mid-draw. This is not possible in NinjaTrader 8.0.15.1 and earlier versions, but should be possible with 8.0.16.0 (this was just released earlier today). You'll find item #13206 in the release notes addresses this directly.

To update NinjaTrader, please follow the steps below:
                • First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
                • Click on the link: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
                • Enter your license key and press Submit
                • Select 'NinjaTrader 8'
                • Select 'Download'
                • Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.

                  Thanks, I'll try that
What about the the other technique (which also disappeared) - clicking beyond the last bar on the chart, which would be way more intuitive?

I started a thread on exactly the same two issues ages ago. Nice to see one aspect has been addressed. Would also like to see the clicking beyond the last bar implemented if it isn't, as it is 'just the way it should have been in the first place' without spending hours figuring out what's going on, why the behaviour is bizarre and unfathomable, and why it isn't simply intuitive, work the way you might reasonably expect

I can confirm that moving and clicking beyond the current bar behaves differently between NT7 and NT8. Snap mode is not disabled in NT8. Bruce, I am having trouble locating a previous tracking ID for that particular issue. Do you happen to have a ticket number or tracking number that we provided you when you wrote in about this previously?
