NinjaTrader 8 Crashed with Windows, now I cannot use it

    NinjaTrader 8 Crashed with Windows, now I cannot use it

    Hello, something really evil happened to my NT8.
    Suddenly my PC got restarted (Thanks Windows!) and closed everything.

    After Restart - I am unable to use NT8.
    When I start it now - it opens just the main window. No workspace, no connection etc. And it stops reacting.
    It behaves like there is a window behind to click because I cannot get focus on that window. I try to open any menu and it doesn't react. I can't even close it normally.
    Tried several times with several Windows restarts.

    Also... when I renamed Ninjatrader 8 folder in documents and reinstalled NT8 - it works fine but I cannot configure it all from scratch - it's too much work I did so far.

    What I noticed when I start NT is also some red Events (sorry for the language - I have Polish only) :

    Hello Darek,
    Thanks for your post.

    Are you able to start NinjaTrader 8 in safe mode? To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
    • Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
    • Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
    • You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.

      Hello Josh,

      I am able to open NinjaTrader 8 in safe mode but once Control Center appears - I have the same issue - unable to press anything, open any menu . I can even go to the Help -> About but during it's start I see it's a safe mode.

        Please write in to PlatformSupport(AT)NinjaTrader(DOT)com with RE:Josh in the subject line. Please include your log and trace files. You can do this by following these steps:
        • Open your NinjaTrader folder under My Documents.
        • Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
        • Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
        • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

            I received your files and it looks like it may be locking up when it trys to connect to licensing servers. As a troubleshooter, please follow the steps below to create a new config file.
            • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
            • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 7--> Config.xml
            • Right click on Config.xml and select "Rename." *Name it "OLDConfig.xml"
            • Then restart the software and NinjaTrader will create a fresh Config file to use
            To prevent running into situations where you can potentially lose important data, we advise running regular backups via our inbuilt backup feature in NinjaTrader - http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...up_archive.htm

            Please let me know the results of this test.

              I did as you wrote.
              When I started NinjaTrader 8 - it asked me about migrating data from NinjaTrader 7 and I rejected.
              Then there was a question regarding adding 2 add-ons which I always used. After accepting them - the same issue.

              I tried again and this time I didn't accept these addons and the result was the same

              So it's still frozen.

              There was one difference. I was able to close it by right clicking NT8 on the task bar and using Close option.
              It asked me about saving changes to the Untilted workspace. I rejected and NT8 closed properly.
              Previously - I wasn't able to close it this way - only task manager worked.

              Now, after starting NT8 again - it works but at the beginning there was a message that some source was not compiled properly and was restored to the original state. It works now.

              Maybe one of my custom indicators failed to compile and caused NT8 to fail to load ?

                Can you try and compile from your NinjaScript Editor? Control Center>>New>>NinjaScript Editor>>right-click>>Compile and send me a screenshot of the errors you see?

                  Hi,
                  I have the exact same issue.
                  I used it yesterday correctly and tonight, my connection remains yellow and can not close it properly. Only the task manager allows me to close it...

                    A lot of errors from 3rd party indicators which worked. First three are my own and are missing a control which is in another folder (probably lost reference to a library).
                    But I'm surprised to see other errors.
