Daily Close How to change from Settlement to Last price

As headline says, how can I change daily close on ninjatrader charts from settlement to last price?

    #2
    Hello Venom,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader forum!

The behavior of daily bars In NT8 is to display the OHLC of the ETH session and the close of the bar will be the contracts daily settlement price.

You can create a daily bar from minute data, creating a data series of 1440 minute type bars (24 hrs x 60 minutes = 1440) which would then provide a daily bar with the last price of the session as the close value. By default, the data series will use the instrument settings for the trading hours which are ETH. Please note that the default "number of days" to load for type "Minute" is set to 5 so you would also likely need to change this value in the data series window if you want to see further back than 5 days. For your convenience, I've loaded a screenshot of what the settings should look like for 365 days of 1440 minute bars using the default trading hours.

It works great, but there are too many vertical lines, how can I get rid of them and what are they?

          Hello Venom,

          Thanks for your reply.

The vertical line is "Trading hours break line". This line can be turned off or set invisible in the data series window. Right mouse click on the chart and select "Data series.." and then locate, "Trading hours break line", left click the right-facing triangle to the left of the text to expand the selection, you can change the selection "Visible" to "Off".

It helped significantly, but number of lines still much bigger than on Daily timeframe, is that normal?

                Hello Venom,

                Thanks for your reply.

Can you provide a screenshot and point out the lines of interest?

Please make sure you show both the time base and the scale of the chart.

                    Hello Venom,

                    Thanks for your reply.

These lines would be the chart "grid" lines and can be turned off in the chart's properties. To turn these off, right mouse click on the chart and select "Properties...". In the properties window expand out the selection "Grid line - vertical" and "uncheck" the "visible" checkbox.

I tried to uncheck visible box for horizontal lines, and it works for them, vertical lines are not grid imo

                            Hello Venom,

                            Thanks for your reply.

Just to recap, you have set the vertical grid lines to invisible and you have turned off (set the visible to "off") the trading hours break line?

Below is a chart where I have turned off the vertical grid lines and turned off the trading hours break line. If you would, please verify your settings once again.

Ok, it worked thanks a lot. You seem to be very knowledgeable. I have 1 final question, hope you can help out. I started using NT charts recently, I was only using Superdom with charts from Thinkorswim. So when I compared two charts, NT and TOS, not adjusted charts highs, lows, opens and closes are identical, but when I go to back adjusted charts, TOS and NT charts highs, lows, opens and closes differ by 3 to 5 cents on CL in most candles, but some candles differ by 15-20 cents, both platforms use back adjusting, why are these values different?
