Hello CoopUpSide,

This thread discusses instrument spreads which is different than plotting ask/bid and having orders filled with ask/bid data.

Backtesting is based on historical OHLC data points and does not fill orders based on bid/ask data.

If you would like to have orders filled with bid/ask data, you can trade against a Sim101 account with realtime data or you can use Market replat data in the Playback Connection.

If you would like to plot realtime bid/ask lines, you can use the PriceLine indicator.

If you would like to access historical bid/ask in the script, an additional data series can be added.

I recently purchased NinjaTrader8 and was shocked that you can not chart spreads in the traditional sense. I came across this post from 3 years ago and noticed other members would also like this basic function added to the software. My question is....what is the likely hood that Ninjatrader8 is ever going to include this in one of their updates?

I've tracked a vote on your behalf for built in spread analysis tools.

While dynamically adding data is not fully supported with NinjaScript, there is enough functionality to get away with creating an indicator that adds a symbol dynamically, compares it to the primary data series, and plots the difference. Such indicators already exist on our User App Share.

The vast majority of futures volume is transacted through spreads and this is where most of he action is (ask anybody who has actually worked in the industry).
I am also surprised than an otherwise great platform doesn't have this.
