    Alert Problem?

    Hello All,

I drew a trend line and put an alert to sound if price crossed it.

I'm working my way down the tabs and when I opened the EURJPY tab the alert went off.

Why the delay - why did it only alert when this tab became active?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the post.

If you right click the chart > go to Data Series, are you plotting the ask, bid, or last price on the chart?
Alerts will not trigger for forex pairs if you are plotting the last price. It must be either ask or bid.

What version of NinjaTrader are you using? This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 7.0.1000.X or 8.0.X.0)

I look forward to your reply.

It was last Chris. I didn't know that about alerts.

      Version number is 8.11.

      Fixed it.

      Thanks and Happy New Year

Is there a way to have the data series default to ask or bid instead of last price? I can choose Daily - Ask for the data series but if I switch time frames it defaults to last.

There seems to be a problem with the Forex Alert coding.

        Thanks.

          Hello,

          Thank you for the note.

You can set a preset for a data series set up. If you click preset at the bottom right corner of the data series menu and click save, it will save all the setting for the bar type you have selected (minute, tick, etc..).

Please let us know if we may be of any further assistance.

I would like to revisit this.

I select bid in the data series for day and save it. I go to the chart and select 60 minute and then go back to daily it returns to last for price. It does not stick if you change time frames. Plus if I monitor 20 pairs I would have to go into each chart and change all the time frames I look at. Doesn't make any sense.

The whole thing of changing the data series to try and shoehorn it to fit for alarms on Forex seems wrong. Isn't there a way to have Forex alarms work off last price no matter what the time frame?

            Thanks.

              Hello.

              Thanks for the follow up.

It looks like the testing I did was wrong. I was able to get an alert to trigger on a pair that is running on the last price.

The question now is why the alert will not trigger when the tab is not active. I tested this behavior earlier this week and, as expected, the alerts triggered even when I was on a different tab.

Here is a video of this behavior:
