    Saving Tick Data

    Hi,
I'm interested in a few products (HSI & Nikkei) that NT doesn't provide historical data so I'm planning on the live data on my hard disk.

Which is the best way to do this?

    1. Tools > options > market data > Record live data as historical

    or

    2. In the chart Data Series > Tick Replay

    Thank you.

PS: Is it possible to save the data on D: drive? My NT is installed on C: Drive.

    Hello,

    Thank you for writing in.

Glad to assist. For 1, this feature is intended for connections that do not offer historical data or have it disabled, otherwise data will be cleared as part of the cache process. To disable, go to the Control Center > Connections > Configure window to view the historical data options set on your data feed.

For 2, this setting would save real-time data for use with the Replay connection only. At this time only a local C: installation is supported.

Let us know if we may assist further.

      Sorry,,,
      I'm still not clear.

Which option is the best way to go to save the live real time data for later charting?

        Thank you for your reply.

The only option would be to disable the historical data on your connection, then enable Tools > Options > Market Data > Record live data as historical. With this setting the data received would then be able to saved and later recalled.

          Thank you Eric,,,

          One more question though.

Is it possible to do this only for certain instruments?

            Hello kalalex,

            Thank you for your post.

When the 'Record live data as historical' option is enabled, the platform will only record data for instruments you have open in your platform and are receiving live data. i.e. In a Chart, SuperDOM, Market Analyzer, etc.

Here are additional resources from the NinjaTrader Help Guide that may assist you:

unchecked Record live data as historical
connecting to a data provide as above.
download data , when finish disconnect.
are data saved on my hd ? can i open a chart and get all data i've previously download?

                Hello victorsmith,

                Thank you for your post.

The data that you have downloaded previously will not go anywhere but the platform will essentially 'fill in the blanks' where data is available.

Below I have provided a couple of links from our NInjaTrader Help Guide about downloading and loading if Historical Data:Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.

thanks for your clarification, just to be sure i've understood 100% correctly:
if Record live data as historical is unchecked
when i download historical data from provider, e.g continuum or iqfeed, that data is saved and stored on my local hd and i don't lost it when turn NT or connection off, right?
                  thanks again.
