    windows 10 update wiped out all my customization

    Just updated windows 10 and ninjatrader restarted as though I had never used it before. It is not showing any of my data connections, custom indicators, workspaces, custom instruments, or instrument lists despite the fact that all of the files containing them are where they should be and have not been changed.

    Probably something to do with the documents folder. My Windows Upgrade from a couple of days ago marked that whole directory as Read-Only, even though I could edit still some of the files in there. I went to the Properties on the Documents folder and unchecked the Read-Only attribute. Haven't seen any problems there, but I also don't have NT on that machine.

      Thank you for your post.

      NinjaTrader 8 has a built in security feature that may reset the platform when it detects significant changes to the hardware or operating system.

      Please write into [email protected] with a copy of your log and trace files so that I may look into what occurred. Please send this to ATTN Dennis. Below are the steps to manually provide your log and trace files.

      Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to your response so I may investigate this matter further.

      Open your NinjaTrader folder under My Documents.
      Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
      Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
      Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

          The security feature I mentioned previously was an enhancement to NinjaTrader 8 and is not part of NinjaTrader 7

            Ouch. So I had a discussion earlier today with Jesse about my own indicator suddenly not showing up on Renko charts. Do you think this is applicable?

                The problem was that the Windows update created a new Documents folder that was almost empty. Because it did not include any of the data that had been in C:\Users\MyName\Documents, all my app customization got lost.

                I fixed it by cutting and pasting everything that had been in that original Documents "folder" into the new Documents "folder" Neither of these are actually folders...

                The Ninjatrader "security feature" has nothing to do with this but it's always fun to introduce extraneous confusion.

                  Updated from which Windows 10 version to which Windows 10 version? Were you pretty far behind? (on deferred updates?)

                  I remember a recent post within the last 2 months that is along these lines about the My Documents folder problem.
