    Margin info in Control Center / Accounts

    My data provider is Continuum. I understand, per the online help guide, that only IB provides the information for things such as Initial Margin, Excess Margin, etc.. I contacted Continuum to see if there is any possible way to include this information. Below is the response I received..

    "Continuum is only providing the market data to Ninja.

    The order routing API they connect to does have some of this information, Ninja has likely elected to not publish this information."

    If this is accurate, then is there a way to access this API information or is there a way that NT can publish this information? I can't tell you how convenient this would be over time to have this information readily available as opposed to having to do a daily lookup and recalculate margin amounts and positions.

    Currently this information is not available within NinjaTrader for Continuum based accounts however I have submitted your suggestion to our development team and will follow up as soon as a tracking number has been assigned.

      Thanks for the information. I am not completely sure why, if more information is available through the connecting API, why it is not made available to the customers that could utilize it. Seems anti-"customer first" to me.

          Using live IB account via latest Gateway I am seeing initial / intraday margin as 0 with a live 1 lot test position in ZB 03-20. Excess intraday margin is always 5640.47 no matter what position on any futures contract. Using the latest NT8. Help appreciated. Regards

            Thank you for posting your question.
            I would suggest that this could be caused by the version of the Gateway you are using with NinjaTrader. While the latest version of the IB gateway is 978.1o, the version needed to run with NinjaTrader 8 in accordance to the connection guide is 973.2h. I would recommend that you install that version and try to check the account values once more.
            Additionally, here is the link to the connection guide for Interactive Brokers that includes a download for the 973.2h gateway version.

                What currency is the account funded with?

                Do you receive any other account values in the control center or are they all displaying 0?

                  Yes directly -
                  EUR but was then switched to USD and is now USD based
                  Get the account balance, realized PL but thats it. Unrealized never shows when position is open.

                    Thank you for those details.

                    I would check to ensure that the currency denomination in your account properties within NinjaTrader are set to the same currency value your account is funded with.
                    • Navigate to the Control Center
                    • Select the Accounts Tab
                    • Right Click on the Account > Edit Account
                    • Change the Denomination setting to the correct currency (currency type the account is funded in)
                    • OK
                    • Disconnect from the connection > Reconnect
                    • (Sometimes if the initial Disconnect and Reconnect does not resolve you may have to submit an order to this account directly)
                    When you follow this process do you find that your account values are updated, specifically the intraday margin?

                        Thank you for writing those additional details.

                        It appears that the account information isn't reaching NinjaTrader for some reason.

                        Just to cover all the bases, within NinjaTrader for your Interactive Brokers connection, which login credentials are entered, is it for your paper account or your live account?

                        When was the last time NinjaTrader was disconnected from your live account? If you disconnect and reconnect, do values appear?

                        Can you confirm that your NinjaTrader platform and Gateway have been added to any virus protection/firewall program's 'exceptions' list to ensure the connection is not being interfered with? If not, please do so now.

                        As an additional test, would it be possible to connect via TWS to test and see if the behavior is the same or different?

                        Once TWS is installed, disconnect from Interactive Brokers, shut down Gateway, open TWS, and connect to Interactive Brokers. Please let me know if the issue persists.
