Changing the defaults on drawing tools

Hi,

Is there a way to change the default parameters on drawing tools in NT8?

For example, I click on the line tool and select horizontal line. The line always draws as a 2pt blue line.

I can select the line properties and change them (make it a yellow 1 pt line, for example), and i can save those changes as a template. But to use that template I have to first draw a 2 pt blue line, select the line, select properties, click on template, load, select my yellow template and then apply it. That is a lot of mouse click just to get a 1 pt yellow line!

Is there any way to change the defaults so that each time I select the line tool, it draws a line based on the last set of selected parameter (e.g. a 1 pt yellow line)?

Hello ralett,

To save your settings as the default after making changes in the line properties window click Apply then save the template with the name Default with a capital D and no extra spaces or characters.

Hi,
Appears the IsGlobal setting does not get saved to the Default template file. Any suggests/workaround to save the IsGlobal setting also in Default template file?

AnkaS are you referring to the "Attach to" option not saving as a part of your default template? If so can you please go to the Control Center->Help->About and confirm you have version 8.0.23.2 installed. If you do not please upgrade with the steps below.

• First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
• Click on the link: https://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
• Enter your license key and press Submit
• Select 'Download'
• Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.

Please let me know if the Attach to option then saves as a part of your default template.

I am running NT vs 8.0.22.2, which is a pretty recent build. Yes, I am referring to property "Attach To".

There was an issue reported with this feature in a previous version of NinjaTrader which has been resolved in version 8.0.23.2.

Please let me know if you continue to see the same behavior with the current version installed.
