    Unable to connect to the remote Server

    Good Morning,

    I'm getting an error today from Continuum:unable to connect to the remote server. Logon failed. Never seen that before.

      I have the same problem connecting to CQG (which is the data provider for Continuum datafeeds, as well).

      Shawn from NT support told me that this is due to server maintenance.

      Unfortunately, he didn't tell me if NinjaTrader is performing the maintenance or if CQG is. I hope he is not just assuming that the problem is due to maintenance on CQG's part... (In the past, NinjaTrader support has told me that my connection problems were due to CQG maintenance, but when I then called CQG technical support, CQG denied they were doing any maintenance at all, and they especially denied that my inability to connect at that time was due to anything that CQG was doing.)

      I have an email request in to Shawn right now for further clarification about who is supposed to be performing this data server maintenance.

        This is the kind of thing that makes me angry about NT support staff. They are very rarely detail-oriented enough to be illuminating without repeated prodding. And in this case, even though I prodded Shawn to tell me whether it was NinjaTrader or CQG that was performing maintenance on the data servers, he still did not give me a straight and clear answer.

        (Because CQG provides data for both the CQG and NT Continuum data servers, it seems possible that either CQG or NinjaTrader could perform maintenance on both the CQG and the NT Continuum data servers.)

        Below is the email response I received from Shawn. I am still unsure about whether NT or CQG is performing maintenance on the data servers, but I'm done dealing with the NT guys about this issue. If I still can't connect later on tonight, I'll take up the issue again with NT support.

        Again, here is the email response that Shawn sent to me. The text in quotes below is the text of the email I sent to Shawn requesting further clarification about this issue:

        Hello X,

        Thank you for your note.


        "Please get back to me ASAP with an answer about who is performing this
        maintenance." "Are you telling me that NinjaTrader is performing maintenance on its
        data servers, or are you telling me that CQG is performing maintenance
        on their end?"

        CQG and NT Continuum Data servers are undergoing maintenance at this time.


        "Do you have any info about when this maintenance on the NT data servers
        is likely to be complete?"

        Unfortunately there is not a resource where maintenance schedules are published.


        Please do not hesitate to contact us for any other NinjaTrader inquiries you may have.

          Thank you all for your posts.



          The behavior you are experiencing is due to data servers undergoing maintenance at this time. Maintenance will be finished before the markets open Sunday afternoon so that you connect to account again. Weekend maintenance is infrequent but expected.


          Please let us know if any further questions come up.

            Unable to connect

            Seems so odd to me that a message was not sent out to NT users. We get all kinds of advertising messages?? Why not a user message that current users might have found quite useful? I wasted a good 2 hrs on this in the morning and figured this may be the case but what a waste.
