How well do market replay work? Performance wise.

Hi,

I've tried a few times to replay market data, but it pretty much always hangs or freezes. Particularly if I speed up things (which you typicall want to do).

Am I doing something incorrectly or is this to be expected?

I typically backtest/backcheck manually just scrolling bar by bar, so it's not a big deal for me either way. I'm just curious to hear what's normal with this feature and if anyone is using it smoothly without any issues.

What version of NinjaTrader are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 7.0.1000.X or 8.0.X.0)

When you say, "Market Replay Hangs or Freezes" does the entire platform stop working or does it take a while for the data to load on the chart?

I also recommend not using the scroll bar to move the data forward. by right-clicking on the replay controller and selecting Go-To. This will allow you to go to a specific time and date.

You are doing something wrong.

I can replay 4 years of ES with a strategy, only problem is that it does eventually slow slowdown.

I'm using the latest version.

It does not stop working. It's more like 'nothing happening' when I click play or pause, but then all of a sudden the chart might start moving.

Thanks for your video. Will check again later today or tomorrow. Currently not a priority on my end anyway. I was just curious if I'm doing something wrong and if this feature can be as good as playing a movie on my computer.

Didn't quite understand what you meant here...?

But yes. It's quite possible I do something wrong.

If I watch a video on my computer - I can replay it with pause/play at regular speeds or 10X and it responds perfectly to every click I do. On NT8, it's simply not responsive and lags. Meaning if I click and nothing happens - I can't even know if nothing happens because I didn't actually click or if it's just lagging.

Hello Johnny,

When using Market Replay on NinjaTrader 8, when you change the time or move the replay controller, the data will move forward until it reaches the desired time. While the data is moving you will not be able to interact with the charts.
