Market Reply / Playback - GoTo function does not work

Hello,

after playing around a few hours and checking old topics here, I havent found a solution. So I need some assistance:

- I downloaded data for GC 08-19, friday, July, 28th 19 (see screenshot 1)
- I connected to "Playback Connection" and started the Market Replay.
- Each time I move the slide control to the future or past OR set a start point manually to a specific point in time (by right click --> GoTo), the replay time cursor jumps back to the beginning of the day.
- I have made sure that the requested point in time is available.
- The issue applies either for Market Replay or Historical Replay.

The attached screenshots show chronologically how this issue plays out at my NT8

Do you have any idea?

This is expected behavior.

When the slider or GoTo is changed, NinjaTrader starts from the beginning of the To period and runs through all of the data (to ensure all scripts are correctly built using the data).

Thanks for reply. Maybe we had a missunderstanding.

- That behavior is contrary to what is written in your documentation (see attachement).

- So why is there a Slide control / GoTo function, when it is completely useless???

- One main purpose of a playback functionality in my eyes is to jump to different points in time in order to replay specific market situations, maybe because I traded there or would have traded. Any idea how I can manage to perform this purpose without using the GoTo function?

Hello SafruAI,

This is intended to allow the playback to seek to a specific time to start the playback. To get there NinjaTrader processes all of the data at max speed.

I will submit a feature request on your behalf for the playback to not run through the entire data when using the GoTo or slider.
Once I have an ID for this request I will forward this to you for future reference.

Hello Chelsea,

thank you for the clarification. I understand that the Slide Control does not work as described.

What workaround would you suggest in order to use the playback functionality efficiently anyway? My objective is to repeat particular market situation where I executed trades multiple times in order to study the market dynamics in detail.

Maybe its possible to cut the playback file into different parts for example 30 minute pieces? A playback of the whole day is not purposeful because that easily would take weeks just replaying.

Hello SafruAI,

If the issue is performance from running scripts, I would recommend you close the workspace while adjusting the GoTo which is basically a seek like a radio that goes to a time.
