Inside Bar Daily Alerts:Can it be done?

I went to Market Analyzer and am trying to set up an Alert Log for instruments that had an inside day.

I don't see where I can set the parameters to High<prev day H and Low >prev day low. Is it possible to accomplish? If so, any tips would be great.

    Thanks

    Hello Thomas,

    Thank you for the post.

To accomplish this in the Market Analyzer you will need to add two Indicator columns to your Market Analyzer instance. The first indicator will be a CurrenDayOHL indicator. The second indicator will be a PriorDayOHLC indicator. You can add these by right-clicking the Market Analyzer and select Columns. Once at the Columns menu, add two Indicators and select the proper indicators.

After you have added these indicators to your Market Analyzer, right-click the Market Analyzer and select Alerts. Now you will see that the two indicators you have just added are available for evaluation in the condition builder. You can then set up a condition like today's High < Prev Day High and today's Low > Prev Day Low.

Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.

Thank you for your quick assistance, Chris.

Unfortunately, under Conditions, the Daily high and Daily low are offered, however, the Prev Daily low and Prev Daily high are not. The only references are Last Price, Daily high, Daily low, Prior day OHLC and Current day OHL.

      Did I miss a step?

        Hello Thomas,

        Thank you for the reply.

In the indicator settings, you must select the correct plot to evaluate. Go into the columns menu and select the indicator. You will see a setting called "Plot" set that to either the high or low. You will have to make one indicator set for the current day/ prior day highs and one set for the lows.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

All data points in the two Prior Day columns are filled in with "0.00":

Columns are headed with: "PriorDayOHLC(High) on Daily Data" and "PriorDayOHLC(Low) on Daily Data"

For Properties (PriorDayOHLC(High) on Daily Data) I have:

          Plot: Prior high
Parameters: All are checked "Show xxx", etc.
Data Series: Input Series "Close"; Price based on "Last"; Type "Day",Value "1"
          Conditions: Cell "0 conditions"
          Filter "0 conditions"

For Properties (PriorDayOHLC(Low) on Daily Data) I have:

          Plot: Prior low
Parameters: All are checked "Show xxx", etc.
Data Series Input Series "Close"; Price based on "Last"; Type "Day",Value "1"
          Conditions: Cell "0 conditions"
          Filter "0 conditions"

          Alerts Conditions are as follows:
Daily high Less equal PriorDayOHLC(High) on Daily data
Daily low Greater equal PriorDayOHLC(Low) on Daily data

            Hello Thomas.

            Thanks for the reply.

Both the current day and prior day OHL(C) indicators require intraday data to operate. Please change your data series for the indicators to an intraday value, like a 1 minute series.

After doing this your alerts should work.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for all of your help, Chris.

PriorDayOHLC columns are now populating for the futures markets.

Hello eziv4, thanks for your post, and welcome to the NinjaTrader forum.

If you needed to extend the functionality of the market analyzer a custom script would need to be made to define specific conditions. The market analyzer has Cell conditions that can be defined to flash a certain color when the conditions are met. See this section of our help guide for information on cell conditions:

Please let me know if I can assist further.
