Playback data

do you need to specifically record the data or can you playback just from existing historical data that your platform has collected simply through regular use?

Thank you for your note.

The “Playback” connection within NinjaTrader 8 will allow you to replay previous data in either two different formats: Market Replay and Historical.

The format for Market Replay data is different from the historical chart data available from Kinetick’s servers. Market Replay data can either be recorded from a live feed or downloaded from NinjaTrader’s server.

The Playback connection will also allow you to replay the historical tick data, which you can download directly from Kinetick’s data servers. You can learn more about the “Playback” connection at the following link to the NinjaTrader 8 Help Guide:

No matter what instrument or date I pick, I'm unable to download "Get Market Replay Data"

Thanks for posting to the forums.

Unfortunately, stock data is not available to download from our Market Replay servers, and would need to to connect to a data provider that supports Equities data, such as Kinetick, to get this data in the platform.

when you playback from kinetick can you increase playback speed? or is it "real-time" ?

Thanks for your reply.

With the Playback Connection, you get a controller which allows you to move through the data in real time as well as fast forwarding and reversing through the data.

would i be able to manually enable/disable strategies as the data is playing back? when i'm connected to a normal data source i normally enable disable strategies manually with the strategies tab enabled check box. would this work in replay?

The 'enabled' box that enables and disables strategies would function the same way in Replay Mode as it would using real-time data.
