    Alert- single bar price travel

I have to apologize for my ignorance here, this should be so easy, I'm doing something wrong...

Alert condition: price has traveled x number of ticks within a single candle.

I keep doing something stupid, I simply want to have the alert fire when price has traveled a preset level of ticks long or short from the open of the candle. The following is what I have and is incorrect, correct the following condition please sir :

    Short example:

Data series set to the price chart (candle)

    Condition window:

    Left side

    Bars ago = zero
    Price type = Low
    Offset = 0
    Offset type = ticks

    (less equal)

    Right side

    Bars ago = zero
    Price type = Open
    Offset = x (number)
    Offset type = ticks

    Thank You!

    Hello,
    Thanks for writing in.

I've attached images of how each alert setting should be setup. Note if you configuring this as one alert to select 'if any' in the conditions box, and to have it rearm appropriately.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Awesome, thank you... I do note also one has the ability to use the alert system to fire an entry into the DOM. But in doing so it just loads an entry without a stop or target. Is there perhaps a command one can utilize to have it use the currently loaded DOM ATM strategy?

        Hello John,

        Thanks for the inquiry.

This would not be possible by default within the alerts builder, and would only be possible with some custom programming via NinjaScript.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Roger, thats what we'll do... I just loaded the logic as you've given but it's not working right. Each candle is immediately firing an alert in both directions ... the candles are not meeting price distance criteria yet still are firing alerts. In this case I'm looking for 9 ticks long or short and if so fire alert...
          Thanx

Also, Is there a way of placing stops or targets manually in the SuperDOM if an order such as discussed here is placed?

              Hello John,

Testing this alert, I have reconfigured it to better represent what you are trying to do. The previous design would alert you anytime the high was greater than the open by the specified amount of ticks, causing the repeating alert. I believe a better way would be to alert when the open price equals X ticks below the high/low of that bar. I have attached below:

                Still not right...
I gather what's happening here is that we're referring to the actual session open? The open that I am referring to is the open price of the currently active candle... So if open price on the current candle = 2700 and price shoots up 9 ticks inside the candle to 2702.25, then I'm looking for an alert to fire... And vice versa for short...
                Thanx again

                  Hello John,

I believe we have the same understanding. The example I provided was in relation to 30 second bars, though you could use any data series. Here it is alerting us if the high/low of a candle is 5 ticks from the open of that same candle.

Does this sound correct? Does this setup not provide what you are looking for?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you, you are correct... Yet what's happening is regardless of of quantity of price travel it is still firing an alert...
