    Strategy Analyzer Bug/Issue/Stupidity?

When I select the Backtest type 'Backtest', the strategy analyzer auto selects a strategy. When I change that strategy to the desired algorithm, it switches the Backtest type to 'Optimization'? If I switch the Backtest type back to 'Backtest', it auto selects the same original strategy. In other words, I seem unable to run a backtest on the desired strategy, only the optimize function. What gives?

    Welcome to the forums amadeus!

A related issue was presented in version 18.1 and addressed with the ticket ID NTEIGHT-13807 in version 19. When I test to reproduce this issue on Release 19, I am not able to encounter the issue.

Could you confirm if you are able to see this issue on the latest version?

I look forward to being of further assistance.

Thanks for the quick response. I updated to 19 for 18.1 and it seems to have resolved the issue. When I change the strategy, it reverts the backtest type to optimization, but I can change it back to backtest without the strategy changing. Thanks!

        Hello amadeus,

        Thanks for your reply.

When I change the strategy, it reverts the backtest type to optimization, but I can change it back to backtest without the strategy changing.
While you are able to switch the backtest type back, we would want an inconvenience like this resolved. I am not seeing this in a clean environment on my end or in my existing set up. Could you confirm if you are able to see this behavior in a clean environment?

        Clean environment test:

Creating a clean environment can be done by following the steps below:
        1. Close NinjaTrader 8, and rename the "NinjaTrader 8" folder in My Documents to something like: "NinjaTrader 8 OLD"
        2. Uninstall NinjaTrader from the Windows Control Panel and reinstall using the installer from http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
        3. Open the strategy Analyzer and test to reproduce the behavior by switching the Backtest type and the strategy to backtest.
If you ever need to switch back to your original platform, you may do so by closing NinjaTrader and swapping the platform folder names.

For example, Close NinjaTrader and rename the new "NinjaTrader 8" folder to "NinjaTrader 8 NEW" and the "NinjaTrader 8 OLD" folder to "NinjaTrader 8." Then restart the platform. Simply put: NinjaTrader 8 will always load the "NinjaTrader 8" folder in My Documents.

I look forward to being of further assistance.
