    EOD from external source

I am investigating NT8, and I can't find a way to connect NT8 to my EOD historic data in Metastock or txt... any help?

    Hello IceZ4,

Thank you for your forum post and for your interest in NinjaTrader!

While Metastock is not a supported data feed technology, you may be able to import historical data into NinjaTrader if you have it available.

Please see the help guide on importing historical data from .txt files on the link below:

thanks for your replay, Ryan... however, my question is more related to EOD meaning Open/High/Low/Close... I don't see how... NT doesn't support OHLC? I could convert to txt...

        Hello IceZ4,

Thank you for the follow up.

From the Importing help guide, there is a section about the daily bars (EOD)

        Daily Bars Format

Each bar must be on its own line and fields must be separated by semicolon ; Only 1 day bars can be imported.

        The format is:

        yyyyMMdd;open price;high price;low price;close price;volume

        Sample data:

        20061023;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;86

        20061024;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;27

        20061025;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;24

        20061026;1377.50;1377.50;1377.25;1377.25;82

          Rayn,

thanks for pointing me in the right direction... does this also mean that I would have to manually import the data every day (to keep it up to date)?

            Hello IceZ4,

Thank you for your reply. If your only source of historical data is Metastock, then yes in order to keep the data current you would have to import a new day of data each day.

One possible workaround solution is to use the Kinetick End-of-day (Free) connection which is preconfigured in NinjaTrader. To use this connection, please click Connections>Kinetick - End of Day (free) and load your daily (or greater) time frame chart.

Please let us know if we may assist further.

thanks again... it's not whether it's MetaStock or txt (I can convert to either) or whether it's free or paid... I need to use my data because I have 100% control over it, and it's the same data I use for other analysis in different platforms... it's many times longer than the one provided by Kinetick (I have already checked on it) and I had adjusted it for special considerations...

do you know of any why to automatize the import?
              Regards,

                Hello IceZ4,

Thank you for your reply post. Unfortunately there is currently no way to automate this process, and it can only be done by manual import.
