Unable to create NinjaTrader backup archive

I am trying to Backup the NinjaTrader and getting this error "Unable to create NinjaTrader backup archive. The process cannot access the file "\\name-app\profiles$\UserName\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\db\Ninjatrader.df" because it is being used by another process.
    How to I resolve this?
I tried Uninstall and reinstall, I tried restarting pc, nothing helps.

    Hello ibabinov,

It appears the documents folder is on a networked drive.

Are you using virtualization software to host windows with NinjaTrader installed within the virtual machine?

        Hello ibabinov,

What is the path of the Documents folder on this computer?

(I'm looking at the \\beacr-app\ part of the path. The two back slashes at the beginning mean network drive. A networked or shared Documents folder will cause issues in NinjaTrader 7 and NinjaTrader 8. This will need to changed so that the Documents folder is on a local drive on the computer such as the C:\ drive.)

I cant do that on this computer, myDocuments has to be on network folder, is there a way in NinjaTrader to save that folder in different location and not in the MyDocuments? If not I would like to ask for that option.

                Hello ibabinov,

                Officially supported no, unofficially yes.

Please send an email to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com and inquire about changing the settings folder to not be in Documents and we can provide you with some unsupported tips we cannot provide publicly on the forum.

I am trying to Backup the NinjaTrader and getting this error "Unable to create NinjaTrader backup archive. The process cannot access the file "\\Mac\Home\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\db\Ninjatrader.sdf" because it is being used by another process.
I know the reason is due to the Parallel virtualization software I use on my mac. Please let me know how i can do it. Thanks. Lando

                    Hello Lando,

                    Thank you for your post.

                    Thank you for your note.

NinjaTrader 7 and NinjaTrader 8 are Windows applications which rely on the .NET Framework to operate and the .NET Framework is only available on Windows Operating System and DOES NOT run on the Mac Operating System.

While we do not officially support running NinjaTrader on a Mac; we have had many clients run NinjaTrader on Mac hardware.

We have specific installation instructions for Parallels and VMWare Fusion which will allow you to run NinjaTrader on your Mac. Below you will find instructions specific to the available options of running NinjaTrader on a Mac computer with the virtualization tools. Please note that Windows is sold separately from BootCamp, Parallels, and VMWare.

Mac Installation - Configuring NinjaTrader for Parallels

When installing NinjaTrader on a Mac using Parallels users will need to ensure that the following steps have been taken prior to the installation of NinjaTrader.
                    1. Start Parallels and select your virtual machine
                    2. Press the "Configure" button on the top
                    3. Under "Options", select "Sharing"
                    4. Uncheck "Share Mac" under "Share Mac User Folders with Windows"
                    5. Press "OK" and start the virtual machine
After making this change you'll need to reinstall NinjaTrader and add your license key and connections back to the platform.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
