Platform response when strategies trade over my intraday margin limit

Hi NT8 Support,

I am asking what will happen when I have two or more strategies trade over my intraday margin limit. Example:

- I have $2,000 in my account, and I have three strategies running on the NQ. I set them up thinking that it is unlikely they will all enter /be in the market at the same time
- Desptie my assumption, over the course of 5 minutes, each places a trade and all are now in the market, and so I am at a $1,500 margin requirement, but only have $1,000 of margin leeway (as I need to meet the $1,000 minimum in the account as well)

Can you please tell me the behavior of the platform at this point? does it prevent the third trade from happening until there is enough margin, does it shut off all of my strategies as it recognizes an error, shut off just the one strategy that would have put me over the limit, does it close me out of all trades, etc.

^^ I put the possibilities above as these are several that crossed my mind.

Hello Todd,

NinjaTrader doesn't prevent trades in this situation.

Instead, you will get error messages that will disable scripts if orders are rejected due to margin.

The logic of your script would have to be custom coded to prevent this by analyzing the amount of orders/position.
