    adding MA to volume bars

    Hi

How do I overlay a MA to the volume bars? Thanks.

    Hello Irukandji,

    Thank you for your note.

This can be accomplished by right clicking on your chart > selecting Indicators > adding the SMA or EMA and then changing Panel to "Same as Input Series". You can configure the plot display of the moving average line on the bottom right as well.

Please let us know if we may provide further assistance.

      hi

"same as input series" is already selected - it's just adding the EMA to the price bars. I want it added to the volume vars. Thanks!

        Hello Irukandji,

        Thank you for the reply.

I apologize, I thought you were referring to the Volume bar type but it sounds like you are referring to the Volume Indicator bars. In this case, you can right click on the Chart > select Indicators > Check what 'Panel" the Volume Bars are set to (likely set to 2) and then change the MA panel to that same number.

Please let me know if this resolves your inquiry.

          Thanks.

OK, I added a 50 EMA to panel 2 (the up/down volume bars)

However, the EMA is just sat on zero line, with a reading of 32.93 - I think it is taking the average price of the CANDLES... and overlaying them onto the volume bars (??)

I want an average of the VOLUME, not the stock price.

Why can't I just right-click on the volume bars and add a moving average? Seems pretty simple to me!

          Thanks.

            Hello Irukandji,

            Thank you for the reply.

You can do this by changing the input series for the MA. Please navigate back to the Indicators menu and try selecting Input Series for the MA and changing it to your Volume indicator rather than the data series.

Please let me know if this resolves your inquiry.

              Yes that worked thanks.

Could be streamlined though, for sure!

So, in relation to that.... now I have all these indicators, I'm looking at a 3 x 2 grid of charts all on one monitor. The labels for all the indicators are taking up a lot of room - can they be selectively removed?

For example, I don't need to see or know the settings of my stochastics, I just need to see the lines and levels.

I don't need to know I have a moving average on my volume bars and what the settings are, I just need to see the moving average!

                Thanks.

                  Hello Irukandji,

Thank you for the reply, glad I could assist there.

Yes, these labels can certainly be removed. You can do this by going back into the Indicators menu and clearing the Label section of the desired indicator. Be sure to select Apply > OK to save your changes.

Please let me know if further questions come up.

                    Thanks.

Any way to remove the price indicator on the right? Again, not needed in stocahstics indicator for example.

And a curious question about indicators. I have 4 moving averages on a chart, lets say AAPL.

The MA labels read: EMA(AAPL (Daily)9), SMA(AAPL(Daily)20).. etc etc

It seems like a lot of redundant information.

I know the stock ticker by looking at the drop down stock ticker box.

I know it's daily because it says it next to the stock ticker box.

Much cleaner if it just read: EMA 9, SMA 20, SMA 50 etc etc

And extra helpful if it had a little color bar next to each one that matches the color chosen for that MA, than way, it's very quick to identify which one is which, especially if there are several.

                    Thanks.

                      Hello Irukandji,

                      Thank you for the reply.

You can disable these by unchecking "Price Markers" in the Indicators properties.

Unfortunately, you would either have to remove the labels completely or use the input series in the label because that is hard coded.

Thanks - cool, its good enough now, cleaned it all up quite well.

                        Thanks!
