Hi AMATX thanks for your reply.

I tested a 5 minute NFLX chart with 1500 days added and a 1500 period SMA. My versions of NinjaTrader are all current and I am using Kinetick for data. All instruments I am using are producing the same SMA value.

1500 period SMA isn't long enough.

Kinetick won't cut it, cuz I'm using the latest version of IQFeed.

You also didn't mention whether you're using the -same- versions of NT7/NT8 I mentioned in an earlier post.

For RIGHT NOW, EOD, Tuesday, Feb 18th, using NFLX 5min chart, 2500 period SMA, the number I'm getting for both NT7/NT8 = 350.08

See if you can duplicate these numbers, using the software I'm using.

        Btw, if I go to a 4000 period SMA, 5min, NFLX, 2000 days look back, the numbers start diverging. NT7 = 336.84, NT8 = 336.78.

Doesn't look like much diff, but I use some MovAves that are much longer than this and any divergence is likely to be magnified.

That's why I requested a 50k period SMA, on several charts. as that more than covers everything I'm using. IQFeed has more than enough historical data to cover this test; pls use IQFeed on at least a 2min chart and report back your results.

Ok, scratch what I said above in last couple of posts:

You're gonna need to go LONG on the period...use 50,000 period SMA.

          Use NFLX.

          Use lookback of 2500 days.

          Use IQFeed.

Use same versions of NT7/NT8 I did(I loaded new versions in December; I don't check everyday to know what is the 'latest' version).

          Using above, NT8 = 301.93, NT7 = 302.24, which is too far apart.

Something's obvious different and you're gonna need to use my setup to see if you get similar results.

Hi AMATX, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I can not reproduce the problem. I will be in the office again on Thursday, may we schedule a TeamViewer session so I can take a look at your setup?

I look forward to hearing from you.

How late do you normally work? Maybe something after 4:00pm Eastern, when the stock market closes...dunno about Thur, I'll post something here when I have some time available. In the meantime, I'll try using fresh cache on NT7/NT8 and see if that fixes the problem. I also have my old system on old box that I can test some NT7 charts and see if they match NT7 on new, current box.

I may have some time in the next few days to compare NT7 on new box/old box and dink around with refreshing both NT7/NT8 caches on the new box. Hang on for a while and I'll report back...thx for email contact info...

I'm jammed up right now, will take a look at this whenever I get some spare time, but could take a while. I'd hoped NT could check this out, but apparently NT doesn't/can't use IQFeed, so is back on me, for now.

I'll post more here when I can get to it.

                      this is really odd.

however, it is not completely surprising for me.

i created a post very recently because a strategy and an indicator do not match, even when all the components and inputs are identical and both are in one same chart.

so far the situation i reported remains unsolved, i hope your sma's can be fixed. and, for what it's worth, i would never use sma's, only ema's or hma's.
