Recover lost work spaces Gripe/Solution

Piece of advice... Save your NT work space constantly. Too many times the system locks up and then you have to kill the process and then you have to rebuild your work space.

If you have to recover and you've saved some work spaces, close/kill NT and go to the following folder in the Windows Explorer...

C:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\workspaces\recovery

Then find the folder(s) with your last saved work space(s) and copy the most recent XML files from the recovery folder(s) listed above to...

C:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\workspaces

Make sure to remove the date portion from the recovered XML file names and restart NT.

Very frustrating.

In a perfect world NT would keep the latest active work space settings in its respective recovery folder but it doesn't. Save often.

Thanks for posting.

It is abnormal that the platform would regularly lock up and force a restart- there may be a problem with your workspace or some custom NinjaScript files you have running. If you like, we can investigate your log and trace files to try and determine what occurred. You can send these by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support

Ensuring 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default.

Also, it's possible to restore an old workspace by going to Control Center > Tools > Database management > Restore workspace, although the method you posted also works.
