    Is there a way to trade the MES off of an ES chart?

    Is it possible to set the chart trader instrument as something other than the current chart? I would like to use the price action of the ES to trade the MES without having to constantly switch back and forth between the two. Thanks

    Hello,

    Thanks for the post.

    You could achieve this with a hidden data series.

    First, create a chart with two sets of data--
    • Select New-> Chart from the Control Center
    • Select the first Instrument (ES), and configure the Data Series with your prefered Type:
    • Click "Add" on the bottom of the Instrument portion of the menu, and configure the second Data Series (MES) with the second Type.
    • Under Chart style, select "line on close" and set the Color to "Transparent" (to hide the line)
    • Under Visual-> Panel select "1"
    • Click OK
    Now you will be able to select the MES or the ES from your Chart Trader.

    Please let me know if I may assist you further.

      Thanks Melissa, this worked pretty well except for two issues that are sort of the same. The candles get thrown off a bit and look odd. This isn’t a huge issue as I can look at two separate charts to get a better idea of price action and take trades on the MES/ES chart but when I switch back the chart trader auto switches the instrument back to the ES and I don’t want to accidentally take a trade in the ES thinking it’s the MES. Any idea how to solve any of these issues? I’ve tried playing with the MES time frame but it just throws off the candles elsewhere. (They’re both set to tick charts) thanks

        I figured it out! Do everything Melissa said to do... then on MES change the Type to 'Minute' and the Value to '1000'... 1 days to load and uncheck auto scale... it works PERFECTLY!!!

            Thanks Tim but for some reason this didn’t work for me. The chart mostly looks ok but every now and again I’ll get a huge bar 10-20 points. I appreciate it though
