Error when requesting data from GDAX

When trying to load BTCUSD while connected to GDAX iI get an error "Error on requesting bar series: 'The Symbol BTCUSD could not be found'

I moved your post to it's own thread so we could keep the threads focused.

I cannot cause this error on my end when I load a BTCUSD 1 minute chart while connected to GDAX. Did the GDAX feed previously work, but is now not working? Or has it never worked?

Are you charting the BTCUSD? If so, what interval have you selected? If not, what window are you using to view BTCUSD data?

If you look at an instrument search window, you'll notice there are two BTCUSD instruments:

Are you certain you've selected the 'Cryptocurrency' instrument and not the 'Forex' instrument?

This is the first time I have tried GDAX.

I'm trying to chart BTCUSD on a 1 minute chart. I chose the Cryptocurrency instrument and I still get the error

GDAX Rate limit exceeded

I am having a similar problem when requesting historical data on BTCUSD,.

Unless I put a date range less than 6 days I get an error when requesting historical data "Error on requesting bars series: 'Rate limit exceeded'". I am just requesting Minute, Last data on the dates.

Is there anyway to get more than 5 days of data at a time?

Hello All,

I tested the Coinbase connection and I was able to pull over 10 days of data. Please make sure you are on the latest version. You can check by going to Help>About. The current version is 8.0.14.2.

To update, follow these steps:

1. Copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
2. Click on the link: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
3. Enter your license key and press Submit
4. Select 'NinjaTrader 8'
5. Select 'Download'
6. Shut down NInjaTrader, and run the installer.

After this, reset your instruments using these steps:

1. First, disconnect from any data providers by navigating to the Control Center > Connections menu, and click on “disconnect” that appears to the right when hovering your mouse over any active connection
2. Next, reset your instruments by navigating to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management
3. In the Database Management window, under the “Update instruments” section, ensure that “General properties”, "Futures expiries" and “Symbol mappings” options are checked and then click Update
4. Lastly, restart NinjaTrader for the changes to occur

Chris, what can I do with that Coinbase rate limit information? I am simply using the historical data tool in NT8. Is there a way to throttle down the rate at which NT8 tries to pull Coinbase's historical data?

Unfortunately, this is CoinBase throttling the amount of historical data that you can download. I just tried downloading a large amount of historical data and I received the same error.

So to clarify there is no way around this/no way to download large amount of historical data at once i.e more than 1 week at a time? Can we throttle the rate at which requests are made over the connection in NT8?

There are no settings or configuration files for the Coinbase connection specifically, so there is not much that can be done about this.
