    Chart panel sizing

    Hi,
I have a chart panel i like minized. I want to see the data i the data box but not the chart itself. I have my template set so that it is the bottom panel and it's height is the minimum - ths hidden. Occasionally when i change bar period, e.g. monthly to weekly it will resize the panels and i have to reload my template. It never does this when changing instruments, just timeframes.
    Thanks
    Swing.

    Hello Swing123,

    Thanks for posting.

Please clarify- does this minimized chart panel contain a secondary data series, or an indicator?

I look forward to being of assistance.

      Hi Tyler
      Sorry, it contains an indicator.
      Thanks

        Thanks for your response.

I recommend setting the indicator to use the same panel as your primary data series, then hiding it:

        - First, go to the chart's Indicators menu and select the indicator.
        - Set its Panel property to 1, disable Auto Scale, and set Scale Justification to Left or Overlay. These settings will cause the indicator to appear in panel 1 without affecting its scaling.
        - Set the color for any of the indicator's plots to Transparent. This will prevent the indicator's plots from appearing on top of your bars.

I've provided a link below with more information:

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

Great idea, Thanks Tyler! I've still not yet got my thinking rooted in the NT universe.

Hi Tyler, have done as suggested. Despite having the "display in databox" ticked, the ATR (the indicator i am wanting to read but not see), does not show in the databox...any suggestions?
            Thanks Swing.

That's my mistake, I didn't realize setting the plot to Transparent would cause it to disappear from the Data Box. An alternative is to set the plot to a color that's the same as the chart background, then set the z-order of the indicator to be behind the bars. I've provided a link below with more information about changing the z-order of a chart object:

                Hi Tyler
Thanks. Given it's the ATR, is very far away from price so not an issue.
                Cheers

                  Hi Tyler
I've tried working as you suggested. But when dragged the chart around (using the click background and drag), i regularly grab the ATR and that ends up plotting the scale on the LHS of the chart and making my charts smaller. I do this more often than the bug that keeps forgetting the panel sizing on timeframe changes.

So, i was wondering could you please make this a request to fix this bug when possible in the future build?

                  Thanks

Just to let you know, i have found the option on chart properties that allows you to choose or not the ability mouse click yoru chart plots. Without this option i can't accidentalyl select and drag about the ATR. So have done this as a solution.
