dmackay41, Kate provided a viable work-around, however, the Development Team is interested in looking further into the issue to see if there are any core workspace corruption items which can be addressed in an effort to permanently resolve any issues.
I encourage you to follow the steps to send us your workspaces for review.

workspace corruption issues
workspace not being saved issues
I've always had a global hot key assigned for saving workspaces every few minutes, especially when I make changes and also always save when exiting NT
I get the same " i save the workspace only to find out that the workspace file is 1K and all my work is gone gone gone"
The recent addition to NT 8.0.15.1 of "Automatic backup of saved workspaces" has been a HUGE help for this problem!
I'm hopeful that NT will find the underlying cause and resolve it shortly!

That's a lot of thread to read, so I simply didn't.
My 'workaround' this is to save my WS, then save another WS with same name but BU at the end (back-up). Then, NT kicks you over to your BU WS, and the next time you save it, save your BU WS, and again over your regular WS. This will then kick you to your regular WS. Rinse repeat back forth.
Sure, it's strange, but;
1) It's not TOS where you're saving studies, charts, flex charts, all this different shyte
2) It's better to simply be safe than sorry.
PS: I know this doesn't "FIX" the problem...

This is exactly what I started doing a few months back! It saved me a few times!
