    You'll need to be connected to a real-time stocks data provider to receive stock data. The link below goes into detail about our supported data providers:Most of these stocks would already be built into the platform, however, if you are not able to find a particular stock, these instruments can usually be created successfully by following the steps:
    • Equities can be added to the NinjaTrader instrument database by typing the instrument symbol followed by the exchange into an open chart and pressing the "Enter" key on your keyboard. For example, you can type "IWM NYSE" to add ticker symbol "IWM" mapped to the NYSE.
    If you're wanting to import many custom stocks at the same time, I'd recommend looking to the 'stock import list' feature which is covered in the help guide here:

      Isn't this something obvious? Shouldn't Ninja Trader make a convenient way to its users to find (or at least the long road i.e. import) any ticker on the major stock markets? Now I need a plan to be able to watch any nasdaq ticker on my trading platform...

        No, it is not obvious.

        If I don't need stock data, why should I have to pay for it?

        NinjaTrader != TradeStation

          Paying for what? I am not sure we're talking about the same thing.

          Even if your data connection provider supports any ticker, you still have to manually enter them in the NT database in order to be able to find the ticker via a search query or "add instrument". I understand you already have everything you need built-in if you don't understand the problem.

          For those looking into populating the database with the ticker lists of the main US stock markets, you can find them freely in a spreadsheet format on eoddata dot com.
