    PnF Chart for ES

    Hello Support,

    Can I know how to setup PnF chart for ES with the following parameters?

    Box Size =1
    Period = Tick
    Value =0.25
    Reversal = 20

    I can't put in 0.25 value.

    Please advise how I can configure this.

    I look forward to your reply.

    Thanks.

    Are you referring to the 'Base period type' and 'Base period value' properties? If not, what are you referring to?

    A value of .25 for the base period value would not make any sense in this context. Ignore the fact that we're building a PnF chart for a moment and think about what a .25 tick chart would look like. It is impossible because 1 tick is the minimum amount of movement any instrument can make.

    Can you go into further detail about what you're trying to accomplish?

      Patrick,

      Yes, I am referring to 'Base period type' and 'Base period value' properties

      OK. So if box size is 1 tick than what the value should be?

      I configure this order flow purpose.

      I look forward to your reply.

      Best Regards,

        I think you're associating these settings together incorrectly. There are four properties to configure in a PnF chart:
        • Box size
        • Base period type
        • Base period value
        • Reversal

        Each X or O is referred to as a "box" and represents the price distance defined by the Box size (set in terms of ticks)

        Reversal sets the amount of price movement needed from the High or Low to change from X's to O's, or from O's to X's. A column will continue indefinitely until a price reversal equal to the Reversal amount (set in number of boxes) occurs

        The Base period type and Base period value determines when the X and Os on the chart will update. So if it was a base period of 1min, the X and Os would update at the end of every single minute. Whether that means it draws a new X or O, starts a new column, or remains the same depends on what exactly was contained in that 1min bar.

        Your suggestion of Base period type = Tick and Base period value = 1 would mean that the updates occurs every single tick.

        You can read more about this bar type in the help guide:
