    Hello. I can't download NT8. The following error shows up:

    "An error ocurred while attemting to create the directory ..."

    Can you help me please?

    Thank you for your post.

    Glad to assist. I suggest running the below, publicly available Fix It utility by Microsoft. This program is able to look into many Windows items that may be stopping the installation, first use it to Uninstall NinjaTrader.
    The Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter helps you automatically repair issues when you're blocked from installing or removing programs.


    Then, Once these steps are completed, download and install NinjaTrader from the link below using our simulation key.

      Hello!

      When I use that tool from microsoft, NinjaTrader doesn't show up, both on the "Install" and on the "Uninstall" side.

      The same error keeps appearing:

      "An error ocurred while attempting to create directory: C:\Users\username\Documents\NinjaTrader 8"

        Thank you for your reply.

        This error indicates something is blocking your computer from creating or accessing that folder.

        Recent windows updates have automatically enabled 'Controlled Folder Access' in Windows Defender. If this is enabled, you may experience errors when NinjaTrader attempts to write to or create a new file/folder but does not have permission to do so.

        To disable this setting follow the instructions below:
        • From your Windows desktop, select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
        • Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings.
        • Under Controlled folder access, select Manage Controlled folder access.
        • Switch the Controlled folder access setting to Off.
        • Restart NinjaTrader and test

        You'll also want to check any other antivirus programs for similar options and disable them.

          Good afternoon. Unfortunately, i can't access the virus & threat protection section, since an update a few months ago, and i never managed to go around it.

            Hello Hash1,

            Thank you for your note.

            I've seen this in the past with corrupted windows installations causing your Virus and Threat protection window to be blank.

            If this is the symptom you're seeing be sure that windows update is run and that all updates including optional updates are installed. Then let me know if you're able to access this feature.

              Hello!

              The window doesn't show up blank. It gives an error message that says "Page unavailable. Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this application and the item which you tried to access is unavailable. To obtain further informations, contact IT's technical support"

              But this is my personal laptop and I'm the only person that uses it.

                I would recommend disabling any third party antivirus options you have installed. If this does not resolve the issue you'll want to reach out to a certified Windows desktop technician for assistance resolving this issue as something is restricting you from making these changed.
