changin colour of drawing tool and saving it as default

I'm sure I've asked this 100 times but, I still cant remember (or find a previous post)

Want to change the colour of my horizontal lines.

You would think I would right click the line, change the colour, properties, set as default or something.

    No such luck.

Even a preset, save, like I would find on a moving average... nope.

Instead there is a template save option (?)

    Huh??

I've changed them once before so it must be possible, but nothing logical and obvious that's for sure!

Oh, and the global setting across workspaces or whatever, doesn't seem to work either.

I draw a line on one chart on a ticker, lets say AAPL.

Then I load AAPL on another chart - no drawn line.

    ??

Issue #1 - saving defaults for drawing objects and indicators:

      For drawing objects:
      • Left click on the object
      • Right-click on the object > select properties
      • Edit the properties as you desire
      • template > save > if you want this to be the default, save the template as 'Default' (it must have this exact name).
      • The next time you draw that object, it will have the properties you changed as default

      For an indicator:
      • Right-click on your chart > Indicators
      • Select the indicator you with to edit from the configured list
      • Change the settings as you desire
      • preset > save
      • The next time you apply the indicator, it will have the properties you changed as default

      Here is a video demonstration

Issue #2 - global objects do not apply across workspaces

Is 'Global drawing objects across workspaces' enabled within the Control Center > Tools > Options?

Yes, I read the help guide then went and checked the tickbox.

        Thanks.

What version of NinjaTrader 8 are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.0.X.0)

Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

Global objects appearing across workspaces works without issue on my end. I followed these steps:
          • Enable "Global drawing objects across workspaces"
          • Create a drawing object
          • Ensure its 'attach to' property is set to 'All charts'
          • Create a new workspace
          • Create a new chart

Do these same steps on your end result in different behavior?

Why are drawing tools saved as "templates" but indicators saved as "presets"?

"Ensure its 'attach to' property is set to 'All charts' "

This is the step I was missing.

Also, problem 2, I see no option to save the template as default.

Drawing tools can have multiple templates, so they are saved as templates. The 'Default' template is what loads automatically, but you can pick from different templates if you wish.

You can think of indicator's 'preset' as being the same as the 'Default' template that drawing objects have. They cannot load from multiple templates, so only this default preset is available.

I am unsure of what you're referring to in your question. In my video, I demonstrate how to save a drawing object default and indicator preset. If you follow those steps, what occurs?

OK, I see - you don't rename it, you just leave it named "default"

                  got it.

To be more accurate, it needs to be named 'Default' with a capital D or else it will not function as the default template.
