    Coinbase connection automatically drops

    Hi!

Yesterday and today I cannot make a persistent connection to the Coinbase data feed. After connecting, it takes around a second to be automatically dropped. There are no clear errors in the log as to why this happens:
14-5-2020 17:13 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Connection lost, Price feed=Connection lost
    14-5-2020 17:13 Connection Time to auto close position='0:00:00', Enabled=False
    14-5-2020 17:13 Connection Using HDS (hds-us-nt-001.ninjatrader.com/31655)
    14-5-2020 17:13 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Connected, Price feed=Connected
    14-5-2020 17:13 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Connecting, Price feed=Connecting
    14-5-2020 17:13 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Disconnected, Price feed=Disconnected
    14-5-2020 17:13 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Disconnecting, Price feed=Disconnecting
    14-5-2020 17:11 Default Disabling NinjaScript strategy 'EnterCloseExitTick/197007513'
14-5-2020 17:11 Default Strategy 'EnterCloseExitTick/197007513' lost price connection for more than 10 seconds and will be restarted.
14-5-2020 17:11 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Connection lost, Price feed=Connection lost
    14-5-2020 17:11 Default Disabling NinjaScript strategy 'EnterCloseExitTick/197007513'
    14-5-2020 17:11 Connection Using HDS (hds-us-nt-004.ninjatrader.com/31655)
    14-5-2020 17:11 Connection Time to auto close position='0:00:00', Enabled=False
    14-5-2020 17:11 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Connected, Price feed=Connected
    14-5-2020 17:11 Connection Coinbase: Primary connection=Connecting, Price feed=Connecting

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I already looked through the settings but Coinbase is auto-configured by NinjaTrader.

I have no problems getting a persistent connection to Kinetick and neither have internet issues that I know of. I use NinjaTrader 8.0.21.1.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hello J_o_s,

My first suggestion would be to reach out to Coinbase directly.

As it looks like the connection might be dropped immediately after you have signed in, it's possible there is an issue with the account itself causing this.

Should there be no issue with the Coinbase account please send us your trace & log files, as they contain further information that might let us track down what is causing this.

To send us your trace & log files please follow the below steps:
    • Open your NinjaTrader folder under, "Documents" (sometimes called, "My Documents")
    • Right-click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
    • Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to [email protected]
    • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.
Please mention "Attention Manfred: 2556449" in the email, that way we can quickly associate it with this post.

    Thank you in advance!

Just to clarify in case other readers also have the same issue, I'm not using an own Coinbase account but rather NinjaTrader default's Coinbase connection. So there's really nothing for me to configure there:

        Hello J_o_s,

Thank you very much for sending your trace and log files over.

To ensure others running into this issue can find the answer I wanted to leave it here in this post as well.

In this case, the problem was that Windows 7 is not able to run the API this connection is based on.

To connect to Coinbase, the operating system needs to be at least Windows 8 or newer.

You may also find NinjaTrader's minimum system requirements at the below address:
