    Plotting a 1-hour-based 20EMA on a 5 minute RTH Emini Chart using RTH-data only

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to Ninjatrader and am experiencing a problem. I use NT8 64bit using CGQ live data (Demo / Sim-Trading).
    This is what I want:

    1. I want a 5 minute chart of the Emini, showing RTH candles only. I managed to do this easily by selecting "CME US Index Futures RTH" in the "Trading Hours" field during chart creation.
    2. Next, I want to add an hourly 20 EMA on to that very 5 minute chart.
    The EMA should be
-plotted using the data of the last 20 hourly candles
    -only use RTH data.

I thought this would be easy. I followed the guides explained in these threads and an official Ninjatrader Youtube video:

    Forum Threads:

I am trying to add a 5 minute 20 ema to a 2 min chart and thought I would need a new indicator to do this. In state configure: AddDataSeries(BarPeriodType.Minute,

So I basically did everything explained in the video and in both threads and, in addition, changed the field "Trading Hours:" of the new data series to "CME US Index Futures RTH" as well (just like I did with my 5 minute data series).

But when I add a 20 EMA using this second data series, no EMA appears on the chart. Interestingly, the EMA does appear if I leave the field "Trading Hours:" as it is by default, i.e. <Use instrument settings>.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Please note - and this is very important imho: I want the 20EMA to use 1-hour-candles of RTH only.

Edit: here are the settings I'm using for the the 60 minute RTH ES data series:

    Hello bippo,

    Thank you for posting.

Could you please provide a screenshot of the configuration of your EMA Indicator? To do this, right click on your chart and select Indicators. Left click on the EMA Indicator and take a screenshot of the parameters to the right.

To send a screenshot with Windows 7 or newer I would recommend using the Windows Snipping Tool.

Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

Thanks in advance; I look forward to your reply.

By the way, the color of the EMA should be silver:

        Ok, I don't know why, but it's working now after restarting Win10 + NT8.
Probably a mistake on my end.

        Thank you again, Sergey.
