    Oil spread in NT8

hi, If i wanted to see the difference between the November CL futures contract and the December CL futures contract is there a way to show this in Ninjatrader 8....and also the December CL 2018 contract over the December CL 2019 contract?

    Thanks

Yes, you can have more than one contract month displayed. If you want to just view raw data like last traded price, then a Market Analyzer window can be used and would be the simplest way to compare prices between multiple contracts.

If you're wanting to see the data on a chart, I'll need to detail how historical data is merged and then some changes to settings will need to occur before charts could be created for different months.

Can you specify which one you're interested in?

To chart both the CL 11-18 and the 12-18 in the same chart you will need to adjust you historical data merge policy:
        • You may do this by going to the Control Center > Tools > Options > Market Data.
        • You will need to change the Global Merge policy to 'Do Not Merge'.
        • Click 'OK' to save the changes.
        • Selecting this option will only show historical data for the front month that is selected.
        • Next, you may create a chart with both contracts (CL 11-18 and CL 12-18).

To do this go to the Control Center > New > Chart.
        • Select CL 11-18 from the drop-down menu or by using the search function by left clicking on the magnifying glass.
        • Click 'OK' to create the chart.
        • You may then add the CL 12-18 to the chart by typing directly into the chart '+CL 12-18'.
        • Press 'Enter' to add the contract to the chart.

This will add the 12-18 contract in a new panel of the chart window.

Below is an attached screenshot for your reference.

Please let me know if this is not what you are looking for.

Thanks but this is not what i was looking for. I want to take one series over the other. So if November CL contract is trading at 10 and the December CL contract is trading at 5 i would like to see it show 2 on the chart (10/5 = 2). I only want to plot one chart showing one series. Thanks

We have an indicator that will show the difference between the two contracts. (10-5=5)

You may download the indicator by following the link below:

            https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...d=7&linkid=937

Unfortunately, what you are asking for, the quotient, of the two charts will require custom scripting.
