Can sound files be in subfolders of the Sound folder
Can sound files work in subfolders in the Sound folder? Or will they only play if they are placed directly in the Sound folder without being in a subfolder in the Sound folder?Tags: None

Thanks Patrick for the quick response. What defines the correctness of file pathing? I thought where it was located defined the path. Are you referring to the indicator ninjascript being coded to expect a subfolder on the way to the file? If that is the case, I would think a commercial vendor would only code for a sound file to be placed directly in the Sound folder and therefore one should not expect a subfolder file to be recognized.

A sound file can exist anywhere on your PC. When manually selecting sounds within NinjaTrader 8, you can search for a file anywhere on your PC. For example, go to Tools > Options and then click on a sound. You'll see a Windows File Explorer window appear which lets you pick a sound file from anywhere on your PC.
In custom code, you're correct - if the path of the sound file is hard-coded into the NinjaScript, then that file would need to be exactly where the code is pointing to or else it would not function.
