    Trouble loading specific historical days?

    Hi,

As I'm back testing data on the ES contract at CME, I want to look up historical days. I typically use a short lookback period of 5 days for this and load the day I'm interested in viewing.

    Occassionally I run into trouble.

Just now, I wanted to check the 21st of May 2018.

When trying to load it, I simply get the 16th instead.

I can solve this by loading the 24th of May instead and scroll back. See last picture.

Finally, after going through these steps, I can load the 21st of May directly...

It's like the date is there, but it does not load on the first attempt and I have to 'work around' to figure it out.

Any ideas? Is this a bug? Obviously, it's a bit time consuming to suffer this when doing a lot of testing.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Johnny,

    Thank you for your post.

What version of NinjaTrader are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 7.0.1000.X or 8.0.X.X)

Who are you connected to? This is displayed in green on lower left corner of the Control Center window.

Thanks in advance; I look forward to resolving this for you.

      Hi, Kate,

      I use version 8.0.14.2 64-bit.

I'm connected to both IQ Feed and Ninjatrader Continuum.

      Best.

        Hello Johnny,

        Thank you for your note.

I see that you're using an older version of NinjaTrader 8. To update NinjaTrader, please follow the steps below.

        * First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
        * Click on the link: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
        * Enter your license key and press Submit
        * Select 'NinjaTrader 8'
        * Select 'Download'
        * Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.

Updating may resolve the issue you're seeing. You may also just have some bad historical data currently downloaded.

Please delete your historical data using the instructions provided at the following page of the NinjaTrader Help Guide:

        Removing Historical Data

Once the data has been deleted close NinjaTrader. Open the Documents\NinjaTrader 8\db\cache folder. Select all files then right mouse click and select “delete.”

Open NinjaTrader and connect to your data provider. Open a new chart.

Please let me know if this resolves this item.

          Hi, Kate,

          Thank you.

Allright. So I did as you said. The mentioned day did load on the first attempt this time. I can't say yet if it's fixed for sure, but let's hope it is.

Regardless, it can't hurt to have done the upgrade.

I'll post again if I run into this issue again.

Thanks and have a good weekend!

          Johnny
