NinjaTrader 8 Used all my desktop memory

    Hello Support,

Usually NT8 only used 400MB of Memory during startup but today it used 16G of Memory during startup.

    No Workspace loaded during startup.

    Can I know why ?

Besides that, some of my log file is 1.6G ....

    Please help

    Best Regards,
    Simjs

    Hello simjs,
    Thanks for your post.

Please write in to PlatformSupport(AT)NinjaTrader(DOT)com with your log and trace files. Please reference this forum post and RE:JOSH in the Subject line.

You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support

Ensuring 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default.

I actually see quite a few third party assemblies loading in your trace files from October 3. Does NT use the same amount of resources when you start up in Safe Mode?

Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
        1. Loading workspaces.
        2. Connecting on start-up.
        3. Loading custom assemblies.
        4. Getting instrument updates from the server.

To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
        1. Exit NinjaTrader.
        2. Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
        3. Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
        4. You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About

          Josh,

NT8 use only 130MB memory in safe mode.

Can you let me know how to resolve the issue of 16G memory utilization in normal mode ?

          Best Regards,
          Simjs

I suggest closing all open workspaces and creating a new workspace. I have provided below all the CPU intensive items that I would highly recommend looking at going forward and when rebuilding your workspace.
            • We always recommend restarting or shutting down your PC at least once a day. If you have not done so today, please troubleshoot by doing so now.
            • Limiting a number of workspaces that you have running. You may check this by navigating to the Control Center > Workspaces. Any workspaces with overlapping boxes to the left of the workspace name is an open and running workspace. To close a workspace hover your mouse over the workspace you would like to close and click close.
            • Having a minimum Days to load on your charts will be less intensive. This setting can be found by right-clicking on your charts and selecting Data Series.
            • The indicator option Calculate set to On each tick or On price change is known to be a more CPU intensive settings. Setting it to On bar close is less intensive. You may find this setting by right-clicking on your chart and selecting Indicators. Once the Indicators window appears, the setting will be located to the right-hand side of the window.
            • Also, pay attention to your PCs resources as you add any custom or 3rd party indicators or strategies, remove them to isolate if these custom NinjaScript objects may be a CPU or memory drain.
