Auto close position

I see a nice feature in tools>options>trading>auto close position, i was wondering how this feature is implemented, can it close strategy position or manual position or both, what would happen after a strategy position is closed how would a strategy reconcile and report the position.Thx

Auto Close Position will close both manually submitted and strategy submitted positions. A strategy running on the instrument(s) that you select would be disabled and a market order would be submitted to bring the account position to flat. Trade performance would reflect that the last trade of the Strategy was closed with an order just called "Close".

If you manually exit a strategy Position the Acct Position is now 0, 2 questions

1. this action disables the strategy ?

2. IF you then re enable the strategy, does the strategy position NOW reset to Zero. If it does not it should

That would depend on how you manually exit the strategy position. Exiting the position manually using a buy or sell order that was manually placed will exit the position but not disable the strategy and would cause the strategy position to become unsynchronized from the account position. However, using the Close button to manually exit the position will close the position and also disable the strategy.

When the strategy starts, it's position would depend on whether it has calculated it would currently be in a historical position and whether you are using wait until flat or immediately submit for start behaviors. If it is immediately submit it would then immediately submit an order to match its calculated position. If wait until flat, it would be at 0 until the next time it crosses a flat position and would then begin submitting live orders.

Thanks, but from reading the information in the Link you provided. IF you Sell to close and the strategy continues to run out of sync, when the strategy decides to close its position you Account position will then be Short. Using example tow using the close button to manually exit would disable the strategy, but if you immediately enable the strategy again and you are set to Wait until Flat, when the Strategy receives conditions to cross to flat. WILL THAT ALSO take the account position to Short ?

If I understand what you stated the cross to flat will not be a Live Order

Here's an example you can try. You can use the Sample MA Crossover strategy that's built into NinjaTrader to test this on a sim account. Turn it on on a chart and wait for it to make a trade on live data, then manually close that trade. When the strategy then crosses over again, it will end up 2 contracts in the opposite directions. This is because a reversal submits 2 orders, one to close the previous trade and one to open a trade in the new direction. Hitting the close button at that time will disable the strategy and bring your account position back to flat.

When you then immediately restart the strategy using wait until flat, if it would still be in the trade it tried to enter that ended up with 2 quantity, it will then wait until the next reversal happens to submit the next order.
