    Last point on EMA calc

It seems that the last point on an EMA is not calculated, or the whole EMA is shifted back by one bar. The Displacement setting is set to 0. AM I missing something? see attached img.

    Hello aelagha,

    Thank you for your post.

In the indicator's properties, you can try changing the "Calculate" property to either "On Each Tick" or "On Price Change".

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any other NinjaTrader inquiries you may have.

Thanks Shawn. That works, but why "On Bar Close" does not? This is EOD data and the bar is closed.

      Thanks

        Hello aelagha,

        Thank you for your reply.

Are you using EOD data only? If so, are you using the Kinetick EOD feed or a different provider?

What is your local time zone?

What 'Trading Hours' template is applied to the chart?

I am using the free Kinetick EOD feed. Local time is is Eastern and Trading hours template is 24x5. This is for a symbol I created on the TSX, but I also tried some o the already defined symbols, and see the same thing. Thanks

            Hello aelagha,

            Thank you for your reply.

It would be expected that if the indicator was set to On Bar Close, the indicator would not yet calculate a value for today's bar and be a bar behind because today's bar has not yet closed.

This makes sense if NT considers the current bar is closed on the opening of the next bar since the current session has closed and the current bar has closed. Is this the case? It is fine this way, I just need to confirm if this is the case so I can adapt accordingly.

              Thanks

                Hello aelagha,

                Thank you for your reply.

That assessment is correct. The bar would not be closed until the next bar has begun.
