Persistent Error in NT LOG on Ninjatrader Startup

    Hello Support,

I'm getting this error on the NT log when I start NT.

"Strategy '216479133' unable to deserialize user data. There is an error in XML document (80,4)"
"Strategy '216479132' unable to deserialize user data. There is an error in XML document (80,4)"

Can you pls let me know how I can fix this log error ?

    Thank you

    Hello rayko,

    Thank you for your post.

This error can occur if a template or workspace is saved and then the script is updated with new code after saving the template or workspace. Per the answer in another forum post linked below:

"The templates can be found in the folder: Documents\NinjaTrader 8\templates\Strategy
and workspaces in the folder: Documents\NinjaTrader 8\workspaces

You can move the .xml files in these folders to a new folder on your desktop temporarily and then test. Once you know the result they can be moved back to where they were or leave the file excluded if it was the problem."

Please try excluding either the strategy template or the workspace file and see if this resolves the error message.

Thank you for your time. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reply here.

      Hello Emily,

I deleted everything from \templates\Strategy and \workspaces directories.

I still get the same error.

      Please help.

      Thank you

        Hello rayko,

        Thank you for the update.

So we can further diagnose your system, please start NinjaTrader in Safe Mode.

Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
        • Loading workspaces.
        • Connecting on start-up.
        • Loading custom assemblies.
        • Getting instrument updates from the server.

To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
        • Exit NinjaTrader.
        • Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
        • Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
        • You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.

After opening the platform in Safe Mode, does the error message come up? If not, please try to connect and open a chart without any templates or indicators. If this opens properly, then please try to open your normal workspace again by closing and restarting NinjaTrader. If this reintroduces the issue, let me know.

I look forward to your reply with the results of this test.

I restarted NT8 in Safe mode and the LOG Error descriptions now included the names of the strategies causing the errors.

I tracked down occurrences or "copies" of the strategies as they existed, at some point in time, in the Logs of Strategy Analyzer.
          \Documents\NinjaTrader 8\strategyanalyzerlogs

Errors on the NT8 log disappeared after I deleted the Strategy Analyzer logs too.

Restarted NT8 as usual and all is well.

Thanks for all you help Emily !
