Metastock EOD Instrument List Importing changes insrument Name "." for "_"

Hi,

I'm trying to move a Instrument list from Ninjatrader 7 to Ninjatrader 8. After load the List Ninjatrader 8 chages the Instrument's name letter "." for "_"

Example:

ABBN.S
ABI.S
ABT.S
ABX.S
ACCP.S
ADBE.S
ADEN.S
ADM.S

in a txt list, after imported becomes in Ninjatrader 8

ABBN_S
ABI_S
ABT_S
ABX_S
ACCP_S
ADBE_S
ADEN_S
ADM_S

When doing the same at Ninjatrader 7 it keep names correctly.

Is important to mantain those names since after that I will import daily Metastock Data EOD from the Swiss Market, and the MASTER MestaStock file contains the instrument's names as ABBN.S so then Ninjatrder 8 didn't take those instruments since are not found in the imported list.

We'd want to take a look at your NInjaTrader 7 database file to see if we can reproduce on our end. Also, what version of NinjaTrader 8 are you using? You can find this under Help > About. The current version is 8.0.23.0. If you're not currently on that version please update and test:

• First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
• Click on the link: https://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
• Enter your license key and press Submit
• Select 'NinjaTrader 8'
• Select 'Download'
• Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.

After confirming your NinjaTrader 8 version, please send me your database, log, and trace files from NinjaTrader 7 so that I may look into what is occurring.

You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Mail to Platform Support.

Ensure to check 'Database file' and ' Log and trace files'.

yes is the lastest NT8 version downloaded 2 days ago from your site

pleass just create a plain TXT list with those names then import an instrument list, and you will notice that NT8 changed the names replacing the "." by "_"

Thank you for your note.

You'd need to change the Master Instrument name for the file you're trying to import. The Master Instrument name within NinjaTrader cannot be changed to have a period in it.

Hi Kate I understand that NT8 is not compatible about holding instruments name's with a period in it. Why ?

NT7 is fully compatible with periods in instruments name's

The development team replied that simply NinjaTrader 8 is coded differently than NinjaTrader 7 and has different restrictions. No further information is available, unfortunately.

Thanks Kate, will see if I could change those names in the Master Metastock file before NT8 takes a read on it.
