IB Gateway/TWS: How Does the Auto-Reconnect Work?

Hello,

I have been having trouble with a "Failed to modify historical order" bug in my strategies, and the current solution is to disable all historical trades so they don't interfere with real-time orders.
However, this solution requires me to run my strategies 24/7. This becomes a problem when Interactive Brokers auto restarts every day and NinjaTrader panics.

Today, I found out that in the new version (I am currently running 8.0.22.2), the problem looks like it has been solved.



How exactly does this auto reconnect work? Will my strategies still disable regardless of this option?

Thank you for your post.

Yes, IB will automatically reconnect after the daily restart. Whether or not your strategies disable would be dependent on the Connection Loss Handling setting under Tools > Options > Strategies > On Connection Loss:

I'd suggest using either Recalculate or Keep Running, and setting the Disconnect Delay Seconds to a relatively high number.
