    IB connection issues...

    Hi all,

    I have an IB account that reports a non-zero buying power under TWS but when I use NT8 to connect to this account, the buying power is reported as zero under Control Center.Accounts.

    How can I solve the problem?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Thank you for writing in.

    Buying Power is one of the values that should be transmitted by the connection when using Interactive Brokers. So I may accurately assist you, please answer all of the following questions:
    • What version of NinjaTrader are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 7.0.1000.? or 8.0.?.?)
    • What version of TWS are you using?
    • What is the expected Buying Power value?
    • Does the Cash Value column match the balance of your Interactive Brokers account?

      Zac,

      NT8 8.0.23.2
      TWS 978.2c
      Buying Power = 730k
      Cash value under TWS = 100k
      Cash value under NT8.Accounts = 0

        Is this for a live Interactive Brokers account or paper trading account?

        Are there any error message present in the NinjaTrader log?

          The same problem here since my account was relocated from Interactive Brokers UK to Interactive Brokers Ireland.


          The account window inside TWS is different, so the fields may now have different names.

          live account
          Ninja Trader 8.0.23.2
          Gateway 978.2c. I also checked the latest and unsupported TWS version 978.2l.
          No error messages in the Ninja Trader log or in the tracefile were found.

            Thank you for your note.

            Do any of the fields populate with information on the 'Accounts' tab or is it only the Buying Power column that is missing the information?

            What currency denomination is your account balance in? Is it the same currency setting that is set within NinjaTrader?

              Hello Zachary,

              Thank you for your response, Problem solved.

              My IB account balance is in Euro, the setting in Ninja Trader was US Dollar. After changing to Euro and reconnecting all fields contain the correct value.
              Before all fields except Gross Realized PnL and Realized PnL contained zero.

              The IB UK Account did work with the wrong settings.
