1st bar that plots a SMA (or EMA)

Hi, if I add a new chart to a new workspace then add a SMA (any period, but let's say 1 period to keep it simple), the first bar that plots a SMA value is the 20th bar. I just wanted to confirm if it is possible to show the SMA plot back to the earlier bars.

Hello REI140205,

It is as expected that indicators are not calculated on the first 20 price bars in charts. This can't be changed and is to ensure the indicator uses enough data to make its calculations. If you like to view indicator values on these price bars, I suggest to load more historical data in the chart.

May I suggest a ticket be submitted to change this? Before plotting a SMA, my coding checks that there are sufficient bars, so a 50SMA needs 50 bars before attempting to calculate or plot the SMA. Skipping 20 bars is insufficient above 20SMA, and becomes excessive if one wants a SMA smaller than 20. I don't think it matters much (if at all) until one uses new instruments like the micro e-minis on a monthly chart ... these aren't old enough to have 20bars of data yet.
