Email Share Service Errors

Recently I've been hearing from my clients that they can't get the email share service in NinjaTrader 8 to work, even if they change email account providers. Many of the errors are logged as "There was an error sending a mail message: The server committed a protocol violation The server response was: ". Is this a known issue with NinjaTrader, or is it an issue with the email service providers?

It likely isn't a NinjaTrader issue. However, we would need more information. Do you know if they are all using the same email provider or different providers?

If your clients are using Gmail, then they would want to enable 'Allow less secure apps' to resolve that error: https://support.google.com/accounts/.../6010255?hl=en

It looks like a lot of the email providers aren't allowing less secure access anymore, which is most likely the source of the problem. My client said that his gmail account wasn't working anymore, so I've been trying to find suitable substitutes. For anyone having a similar problem, I've found a solution by using an AOL account and generating a third-party app password. It also appears that the same thing may be necessary for Yahoo, and you can find out how to do that here: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html. I have not verified that Yahoo works.

To solve this issue, I'm going to recommend that my client switch to an AOL or Yahoo account and use a third-party app password.
