How do orders work over the weekend?

Hi,
I don't usually keep open positions through the weekend but I have one on now. I have an outstanding Ninja bracket order in place from prior to market close on Friday. If I try to move a limit order, I get error code 1003 indicating the exchange is closed. However, Ninja WILL let me place a new stand-alone buy limit even though the market is closed. Can you please advise how orders work when the market is closed?

Glad to assist. This would be unexpected to occur in general, though rules would specific to your account / broker.

CRITICAL — If your inquiry involves live orders, please always reach out to your broker's Orders Desk immediately to confirm and manage your live orders and positions.

If your trades are with NinjaTrader Brokerage, you can contact NinjaTrader Brokerage Order Desk here:

Once you have closed the positions/orders with your broker please repair your database to remove the order from NinjaTrader.

• Disconnect NinjaTrader from any open connections via File > Disconnect
• From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Database
• Press "Repair DB"
• Press the "Repair" button

If this does not remove the order then the order will be removed when your broker resets their servers.

If the order was submitted to the sim101 account please reset the sim101 account.

• From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the Accounts tab
• Right click on your simulation account and select 'Edit Account'
• Press the "Reset" button

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the reply, but here are a few data points around how it worked out:
-Nothing was damaged or required resetting, repairing, or restarting
-Sometime after 5:40pm, my bracket order components from Friday started working -- that is, I was able to move orders around.
-After the 6pm open, I used the bracket to manage the trade to close.
-I don't know what would have happened with the new orders i was able to place earlier Sunday; I removed those long before the open.
