Historical Data for Chart Market Replay

I trade futures and use market replay data to reconstruct 3 minute and 15 minute candlestick charts -- which are the two periodicities which I trade. I only subscribe to CQG Level I data.
For replay, what's most important to me is accurately duplicating the high, low, open, and close of each candlestick bar. The closer the internal bar movements are to reality the better, but I don't think that they're critical.
Do I need to use market replay data or is historical data sufficient for my purposes? And what would I lose if I went that route?

I think you're mixing terms, and it's got you a bit confused.
As a result, it's not exactly clear what you're asking.

Historical Data != Market Replay Data

The confusion lies in the fact that both kinds of data are,
obviously, of an historical nature -- but when capitalized,
these terms have very different, very specific meanings.

The bottom line is: if you're trying to practice trading, then
you need to download Market Replay Data.

Historical Data is used to draw all the historical candlesticks
on your chart, ie, before the candlesticks built from the arrival
    of the first Real-Time data.

(Market Replay Data was previously Real-Time Data that has
been recorded into a specially formatted files, which can be
downloaded and then replayed using the "Playback Connection".)

Both kinds of data are used when constructing a chart window.

    Good reading here.

Oh, sorry, you mean historical tick data?

In my opinion, since you only care about minute data, using historical tick data
for the Playback Connection is not strictly necessary, and would probably not
        affect your results.

          Hello sgordet,

          Thank you for your note.

Yes, for this we would recommend downloading market replay data (via Tools > Historical Data > Load > Get Market Replay Data) at this should be best suited for what you are looking for.

If I purchase commodities market tick data from several years ago will I be able to chart them as I would with market replay; if not, how would I go about charting older data? I'm interest in charting ES data from about seven years ago.

Yes, it is possible to play back historical data if it has been imported into the platform and is formatted correctly to be used with NinjaTrader. You would just need to ensure that you have 'Historical' selected within the Playback controller rather than 'Market Replay'. Below are links with more information:
